NCOALink™
NCOALink™ is a "before-you-mail" service that provides change of address information during the preparation of mailings. Over 40 million Americans change addresses every year. This creates formidable obstacles in maintaining a high quality mailing list. Change of address information is captured by the U.S. Postal Service in its The NCOALink™ database, and is made available through licensed vendors to help mailers reduce undeliverable mail pieces.

NCOALink™ processing first standardizes and ZIP+4™ codes the input address. All standardized addresses that had a ZIP+4™ assigned are sent through Delivery Point Validation (DPV™) to verify the address and identify an address that is a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency (CMRA). The NCOALink™ process attempts to match the address against the NCOALink™ database of known movers. The database, which is updated weekly, contains roughly 180 million records. The database includes the most recent 48 months of address changes. When the input record matches an old address on the NCOALink™ file, the mailer receives the new move information from NCOALink™ - either the new address, or an indication that the new address is not available.
